I started my life’s work in the therapeutic field, where I spent over 20 years. First, helping teens, young adults and their families as a guide at Second Nature in Utah, and then, as a mental health counselor at the inpatient psychiatric unit at Children’s Hospital of Colorado.

I am the founder and creator of 2 young adult programs, Venture Transitions and Urban Edge (UE), where I worked with hundreds of families. We really spearheaded giving young adults room to fail, without feeling like they’d lost themselves or were defined by their mistakes.

I’ve been a member in NATSAP (National Association for Therapeutic Schools and Programs), where I was a committee chair for several years and received a Member Recognition Award. I co-authored a paper published in the Journal of Therapeutic Schools and Programs and was also a member of YATA (Young Adult Transition Association).

Now, I am working with teens and adults one-on-one. No one else does or assists in the mentoring, except in larger international program settings (i.e. 2-3+ persons). I use a “you are not your feelings” approach and value-oriented action planning. Some people reach out to me when therapy isn’t working or they’re in a life transition. Others who juggle a lot or need to deep dive into their brains to find the calm they desire. We create a custom toolbox – something that resonates with you and you want to carry around – so all the facets of your life are better organized and you finally find the space to breathe.
