Gerene Keesler is an Independent Educational Consultant and the founder of Admissions Untangled, a virtual college planning practice serving students in grades 9–12 and young adults exploring next steps after high school. With more than 30 years of experience in undergraduate and graduate admissions, Gerene brings deep institutional insight and a highly personalized, student-centered approach to the planning process.
Her background includes roles in admissions offices, scholarship advising, essay coaching, and mock interviews. She has served on admissions committees and worked closely with students across a wide range of academic profiles, learning styles, and postsecondary goals. Gerene specializes in supporting neurodivergent students, including those with ADHD, autism, executive-function challenges, and complex academic paths, while welcoming students of all backgrounds and aspirations.
Through Admissions Untangled, Gerene helps families build thoughtful, realistic plans focused on best-fit colleges and programs—academically, socially, and financially. Her services include academic planning, executive-function coaching, college list development, application strategy, essay guidance, and support for students considering gap years, transfers, or alternative pathways.
Gerene is a professional member of the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA) and the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), and a member of the Southern Association for College Admission Counseling (SACAC). She has visited more than 50 colleges and universities across the United States and internationally to stay current with programs, campus cultures, and student support resources.
Based in Tampa, Florida, Gerene works with families nationwide in both English and Spanish, helping students untangle the path to a successful and fulfilling future.
