State Advocacy in Action: Powerful Testimonies & Big Steps Forward in Utah!
What an incredible few weeks it has been! NATSAP has been fully immersed in this legislative session—walking the halls, sitting through hours of meetings, and diving deep into bill language to ensure every detail is right. The impact has been huge!
NATSAP has now testified in two major committee hearings, in rooms packed with advocates, families, and alumni—plus an engaged audience tuning in online. Former students and families shared their stories, speaking firsthand about how treatment changed lives. Their voices were powerful, emotional, and a reminder of exactly why this work matters.
With the landscape of state licensure and oversight evolving, NATSAP has been at the forefront—meeting with key legislators, testifying in critical hearings, and collaborating with advocacy partners to shape the future of behavioral health services. One of the biggest priorities has been addressing gaps in state licensure protections for programs facing regulatory challenges. The conversation has been elevated by engaging legal experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to ensure due process and fairness while maintaining accountability. Additionally, through strategic outreach, NATSAP has strengthened alliances with legislators who understand the life-changing impact of quality therapeutic care.
And the work continues. Right now, NATSAP is going back and forth with legislators, fine-tuning bill language as these critical measures head to the floor for a vote. It’s intense, exciting, and hard work—but it’s work worth doing. Real progress is being made in strengthening safety standards, ensuring fairness in regulations, and protecting ethical treatment programs that are committed to doing things the right way.
This is advocacy in action, and it wouldn’t be possible without the support of dedicated individuals. Thank you for standing with NATSAP, for believing in this mission, and for being part of a movement that truly makes a difference. Stay tuned—there’s more to come!
