Join Us in Supporting NIMH's 75th Anniversary Symposium

The National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP) is thrilled to join the mental and behavioral health community in highlighting the National Institute of Mental Health's (NIMH) 75th Anniversary Symposium, a yearlong celebration that commenced on September 13, 2023. The symposium, "The Evolution of Mental Health Research," explored the complexities of the human brain and the groundbreaking contributions of NIMH-funded research.

NIMH Director Joshua A. Gordon, M.D., Ph.D., emphasized the significance of mental health, with 1 in 5 U.S. adults experiencing mental illnesses. Breakthroughs like medications for depression and cognitive behavioral therapy were acknowledged as outcomes of NIMH's impactful research.

Keynotes by Drs. Bargmann and Deisseroth delved into brain function and optogenetics. The symposium covered brain mapping, ECT improvements, and depression medication development. Panel discussions and a poster session added depth. Watch the presentations and learn more about NIMH's 75th Anniversary.

Looking ahead, NIMH's next symposium on March 18, "Amplifying Voices and Building Bridges: Toward a More Inclusive Future," will focus on inclusivity in defining mental illness and workforce inclusivity.
