SAMSHSA $43M in Supplemental Funding for Youth Recovery Housing Services Announced
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) announced $43 million in new supplemental funding available to State Opioid Response (SOR) program grantees to expand recovery housing services for young adults, ages 18-24. This investment advances President Trump’s Executive Order, Ending Crime and Disorder on America’s Streets.
“We are confronting the root causes of homelessness, including addiction, with urgency and resolve,” said U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. “This funding expands recovery housing for young adults, strengthens pathways to lasting recovery, and marks a decisive step in reducing homelessness and improving public safety.”
As the epidemic of drug overdoses continues, the federal government seeks to find innovative programs to help states and municipalities reach targeted audiences. This new SAMHSA initiative is a one-year supplemental infusion of grant funding to specifically help
Young adults with opioid or stimulant use disorders. There are also available options for family-based treatment, provisions for dedicated care coordinators to assist in navigation, and opportunities for individuals with a range of recovery support services such as coaching, vocational training, employment support, transportation, childcare and more to benefit from the funding.
Minimum grants begin at $500,000 and cap out at close to $3 million for qualified programs. To learn more about these SAMHSA grants, visit https://www.samhsa.gov/newsroom/press-announcements/20250825/samhsa-announces-43m-supplemental-funding-support-youth-recovery-housing-services
