NATSAP Partners with CBS News on Documentary Spotlighting Alumni Family’s Path to Accredited Care

In an upcoming documentary being launched by CBS Mornings, a mother and her son—an alumni family whose son attended two NATSAP programs—courageously share their deeply personal journey to find the right care during an incredibly challenging time. Having participated in several recent advocacy days, they have already shown a strong commitment to supporting other families, and their willingness to speak openly now reflects that same generosity and leadership. We are deeply grateful to them for trusting this process and for lending their voices to a story that so many will see themselves in.

After facing obstacles along the way, the family ultimately found the support they needed through accredited programs that were able to meet their son’s needs. Their experience is a powerful reminder that while the path to care is not always straightforward, access to high-quality, ethical, and accredited programs can make a meaningful difference in outcomes for young people and their families.

This documentary, reported by CBS News correspondent Ash-har Quraishi, is the result of more than two years of thoughtful collaboration. The promotion will air on CBS Mornings, and Ash-har will discuss the project in greater detail. NATSAP is proud of the role our members have in helping facilitate this work.  We hope that the story will be told with care and integrity of those involved. As the documentary debuts, the Association remains grounded in the shared mission of supporting families, elevating lived experiences, and expanding access to safe, trusted, and effective care when it matters most.
