About

Ascend Healthcare offers residential treatment services to clients ages 12- 17 for mental health, substance use, and/or trauma. The program is designed to strengthen client resilience and self-efficacy through psycho-educational groups and daily practical application throughout their duration in the program. Ascend believes that fostering a safe and warm therapeutic environment empowers clients to engage in deep and meaningful therapeutic work. We bill health insurance directly for treatment. Ascend offers many evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Matrix Model, 12-Step programming, mindfulness-based practices, and more. The facility also offers many experiential treatments such as boot camp, yoga, music therapy, art therapy, equine therapy, drama therapy, therapeutic writing and poetry therapy, process groups, and more. When appropriate, therapists will also provide individual sensorimotor therapy or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy for more trauma-focused work. Weekends include intensive multi-family days, community- based volunteer work, community- based outings, horticulture, and surf therapy. Clients have a minimum of two private therapy session per week and two individualized family sessions per week with a licensed therapist. Clients also see the Ascend psychiatrist a minimum of 1-2 times per week during the duration of their treatment. As a program with a strong LGBT+ inclusivity policy, Ascend is passionate about honoring each client's unique identity and experience. The on-site education program is highly-individualized, offering remediation for low academic performers, college counseling for clients just graduated or about to graduate high school, and full collaboration with primary educational placement to keep assignments current while residing in treatment. The clinical program is designed to help clients build self- acceptance, learn distress tolerance, connect with others, become honest and vulnerable, strengthen executive functioning, identify values, and take action.
