Black Mountain Academy is a specialized boarding school for neurodiverse boys in Grades 9-12 where personal development is nurtured through relationships, community, wellness, and the arts. Our school and program equips students with the skills, education, and social confidence they need to thrive in school and beyond. Black Mountain Academy utilizes a comprehensive model called the Personal Growth Plan to support each student’s development. Every student works with a dedicated Core Team—consisting of their therapist, lead teacher, and lead residential coach—to create individualized academic and personal goals that foster growth across multiple areas of life. Together with the student and their family, the Core Team designs goals aligned with our Six Core Competencies, ensuring a balanced approach to personal and academic progress. These goals are regularly reviewed and refined as students advance through their Personal Growth Plan. Through commitment, compassionate guidance, collaboration with families, and healthy accountability, students at Black Mountain Academy experience meaningful growth in each of the Six Core Competencies throughout their journey with us.
