Program Description : Our residential treatment program offers hope, healing, and a healthy lifestyle for all residents. Located in beautiful Deerfield Beach, Lifeskills South Florida provides a secure and nurturing atmosphere for balanced recovery and healing. Residential treatment program clients live in fully furnished townhomes that are professionally staffed 24 hours a day. This realistic, home-like setting allows residents to adapt their new coping skills within the local community and to daily routines while taking part in the therapeutic process. The goal of Lifeskills is to help residents successfully transition back into their homes, family lives, and careers with newfound self-esteem, direction, and control.
Lifeskills South Florida offers comprehensive clinical pathways that focus on long-term recovery for the individual and the family. Within our residential treatment program and continuum of care, clients access the clinical pathway that aligns to their specific need.

Please briefly describe your admission policies and procedures
Policy:
It is the policy of Lifeskills South Florida that admitted Clients will meet established criteria for residential level of care and will be deemed appropriate for discharge when the residential criteria is no longer met and/or the Client meets criteria for a less intensive level of care (i.e.: outpatient services) Clients will be transferred when they do not meet criteria, i.e. their psychiatric and/or substance related conditions have become more or less severe, or it is felt that the Client is not benefiting from treatment at this facility and could be better served by another provider. In addition, the admissions department is proactively pre-screening clients and family members for possible exposure to, or symptoms of COVID-19. Additional measures have been implemented to achieve a “rapid triage and isolation” of clients that display symptoms of suspected COVID-19.
Direct admits to our outpatient program or transitional living facilities will be red flagged for further screening.
Procedure:
I. Complete COVID-19 screening questions (see COVID-19 policy)
II. During the Intake Assessment, upon admission, during the Bio-Psychosocial Assessment, while developing the Treatment Plan, during Treatment Plan reviews and throughout the treatment episode, the Client’s discharge needs are identified, discussed, assessed and incorporated into the Treatment Plan.
III. A referral or transfer from one provider to another is considered direct if the admission is completed within seven calendar days.
IV. Admission criteria- Clients Must:
A. Be over the age of 18 and meet criteria for Substance Use Disorder; may have a co-occurring Psychiatric Disorder- Department of Children & Families (DCF) bed; or a Psychiatric condition without Substance Use Disorder- Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) bed.
B. Have absence of present or impending signs or symptoms of acute withdrawal that may necessitate medically monitored inpatient detoxification.
C. Have absence of acute medical problems or biomedical conditions that may interfere with treatment or recovery efforts (such as need for staff administration of medications, intravenous treatments or needing assistance with mobility).
D. The Clients’ psychiatric (emotional, behavioral and cognitive symptoms) must be sufficiently severe that treatment in a nonresidential setting is deemed to be insufficient or has failed. Clients with present or recent history of dangerousness to self or others (including sexual offenses or criminal behaviors), with severe developmental, or cognitive deficits that would preclude their participation in groups or the completion of at least 5th grade level written material are not considered appropriate for our program.
