About

Meridell Achievement Center treats middle and high school boys and girls ages 10 to 17 with programs tailored to the patients’ needs. Our programs are designed to help patients understand their patterns of thinking and behaving by getting to the root of any underlying biological causes for their behavioral issues. The staff focuses on promoting life skills and core values. We provide a positive peer culture, and our goal is to have each child develop the skills to control their own life and destiny. Board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrists direct treatment teams that are comprised of licensed master’s-level counselors, nurses, recreational therapists, mental health technicians (direct care staff) and teachers. Treatment teams are supported by a pediatric neurologist, psychologists, registered dietitian, board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and a family practice physician. We can assess: Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD), Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED), Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Learning, Attachment, and other disorders. Educational Support Teachers and clinicians through Ki Charter at Meridell work together to further educational and clinical objectives. Students receive seven hours of schooling each day. We are committed to reintroducing our students in grades 5 through 12 to their respective schools with improved behavior, reduced learning gaps and the social-emotional skills to succeed.

Meridell opened in 1961 in Austin, Texas. We began with small programs for local special needs children and adolescents who needed daycare and 24-hour residential treatment. Today we are a 134-bed, co-ed medical model residential treatment center. We specialize in neurobehavioral and behavioral services for children and teens ages 10-17. Our 63-acre campus is in Liberty Hill, Texas, an Austin suburb with an easy commute to the city center and international airport.
