About
STAR Guides has been uniquely designed for adolescent males and females ages 13-17 combating compulsive sexual behaviors including pornography addiction, reckless online behaviors, inappropriate touching and other destructive behaviors. Frequently these behaviors are driven by unresolved trauma, attachment issues, social challenges and emotional dysregulation. The program is a particularly effective intervention for those who have been unsuccessful in the past in breaking free from these behaviors. Completely unplugged from technology and modern society, treatment revolves around development of coping skills for managing difficult emotions and problems through learning to live in the remote high desert of Utah. This life changing experience proves youth with the foundation to build their adult life with an improved set of coping skills and the confidence from having successfully completed a truly difficult undertaking. Length of stay ranges between 90 and 150 days. Individual therapy occurs twice weekly with group therapy occurring daily. The treatment process includes completing a sexual history and verifying its accuracy with the use of a therapeutic polygraph. Sexual Behavior Risk Assessment (SBRA) And Psycho-Sexual Evaluations are provided in cases where these assessments are needed. Program clinicians assist families in the legal reporting process where mandated reporting is necessary. Clinicians also work with parents through a parenting component assisting parents to maximize their role in the treatment process. The program provides specific treatment tracks for addictions, trauma and offending issues.
