In 2023, Legacy Treatment Center made history by becoming the inaugural recipient of the annual Mike Gass Research Award. This accolade was presented during the annual NATSAP conference, showcasing Legacy's exceptional commitment to advancing research efforts that inform and elevate their care practices within the field.

The significance of this recognition lies in honoring Legacy's dedication to prioritizing and investing in research initiatives that not only benefit their own programs but also contribute valuable insights to the broader field. Dr. Michael Gass, a revered figure known for his extensive contributions and unwavering commitment to impactful research, inspired the establishment of the Award.

The award grants are divided into two categories: Proposed Projects and Published Work. Proposed Projects Awards aim to provide financial support to treatment programs for conducting various forms of research such as case studies, interventions, multi-site studies, or academic research, with an award of $15,000 distributed across three programs. Published Work Awards recognize exceptional scholarly contributions that advance the science of treatment or propose strategies to enhance outcomes for clients and families. Three selected articles will grant their primary authors an award of $1,500, waived conference registration fees, and an invitation to present their findings at NATSAP 2025 in California.

NATSAP member programs and researchers collaborating with members are encouraged to apply for these awards before the deadline on June 30, 2024. For inquiries and submissions, interested parties can reach out to the NATSAP research committee via email at natsapresearchcommittee@gmail.com. This initiative marks a pivotal step towards promoting research excellence and innovation in the realm of adolescent and family care, furthering the legacy of impactful work initiated by Dr. Michael Gass.
