About
What if residential treatment didn't feel like treatment? What if healing could take place in a safe, nurturing family-like environment? What if a teen could not only recover school credit, but also discover that they love learning? What if the most productive therapy took place not only in the therapist's office, but also in natural environments? Two gender-affirming campuses - one for males and one for females - provide all of this through the use of the Teaching-Family Model, a nationally recognized, evidence-based method of treatment. The Model uses a relational, brain-based learning approach that is proven to heal trauma and effect lasting change, creating an environment where students feel seen, heard, and safe. This Model deeply influences LIFE at Alpine. Alpine Academy's goal is to reunite and strengthen families, and the best way for this to happen is by Learning In a Family Environment (LIFE). Students live in homes that are run by a small team of LIFE coaches who are trained and certified in the Teaching-Family Model. Through meaningful relationships and trauma-informed practices, they create much more than a residential setting. This allows for continuous, immersive therapeutic work to take place. Therapy, with Master's level clinicians, is built into the school day. Advanced training and certification in evidence-based, cutting-edge modalities enable our therapists to help students develop insight, heal trauma, strengthen the family, establish identity, and see their potential. DBT, CBT, TF-CBT, EMDR, Family Systems, ACT, neurofeedback, and equine are some of the modalities that are integrated into daily therapeutic work, individualized to each student's needs. Alpine Academy ranks in the Top 5% of Cognia-accredited schools and was named a 2021 School of Distinction for excellence in education and is the only residential treatment center who has received this award. The award recognizes accredited member schools that demonstrate a commitment to the expectations and rigors of the Northwestern Accreditation Commission, as well as a commitment to delivering quality educational programs to students. Classrooms are led by direct instruction from highly qualified teachers that are certified in core subjects and have Special Education endorsements. Small class sizes, individual tutoring time during and after school, credit recovery/remediation, weekly academic outings that focus on experiential learning, opportunities for advanced coursework, appealing elective classes, and college and career exploration are just a few elements of our individualized academic approach. Alpine Academy Therapeutic Schools is Utah state-licensed as a residential treatment center for adolescents, ages 12-18. Our typical students are deeply hurting inwardly from causes and symptoms often associated with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship problems (including attachment disorders), attention deficits, traits of personality disorders, social skill deficits (including ASD, Level 1, non-verbal learning, etc.), low resilience, poor self-esteem, executive functioning needs, identify exploration needs, and misuse of technology.
