About
Polaris Teen Center is a residential treatment center providing girls and boys ages 13 to 17 with high quality clinical care. Given the complex and sensitive nature of the psychological, biological, and/or familial background of the clients we serve, we offer specialized treatment modalities in order to comprehensively treat behavioral, social, and emotional difficulties. Each client attends at least three individual sessions a week with a licensed clinician. Each family member attends two family sessions (in person or via phone) per week with a licensed clinician. Each client also sees with a board certified adolescent psychiatrist for assessment and medication management when needed. Group therapy is offered multiple times a day and is either topical (healthy relationships, body image, life story), clinically focused (DBT, trauma focused) or experiential in nature (art, creative writing, music). We also offer a weekly family psycho education and process group. With an average length of stay of 45-60 days, the focus of the clinical work at Polaris is primarily psychiatric stabilization and improvement in functioning, so that the teen may successfully transition to the next phase of their recovery, be that a therapeutic boarding school, extended care, or outpatient setting. We provide adolescents with a safe haven for recovery, growth, and healing. Teen mental health issues can be caused by a variety of factors: trauma, biological predisposition, environmental factors at home or in school and so forth. We deeply understand the need for a thorough clinical evaluation and personalized treatment planning to ensure a successful long-term impact. Our clinically trained staff treats the whole person using customized, tailored strategies for teens struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar, and other mood disorders. We also treat subsequent secondary destructive behaviors like self- harm, substance abuse, and eating disorders.
